Bayer Transportation Scholarship

Bayer recently awarded Science City a $10,000 grant to be utilized as a transportation scholarship fund for field trips to the science center. Scholarships will be given to select counties in both Missouri and Kansas, with priority given to Title I schools (public, private, charter or home-based) or those with 50% or more free and/or reduced lunches.

The transportation scholarship fund will assist in making field trips possible for students who may otherwise be unable to experience the 92,000 sqf Science Center that focuses on the wonder of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Science City strives to serve as a scientific, educational and cultural resource, dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of science.

Scholarships like this allow Union Station to deliver on our mission of science education while inspiring and engaging students on a daily basis.

Jackson County Science City

Scholarships

Internationally awarded for visitor experience, Science City, is THE place for young minds to create, explore and experiment. With more than 92,000 square feet of hands-on learning, students experience the big world of science in a fascinating and inspiring way. This spring and summer, Jackson County school districts are eligible for scholarship funds to help open our Science City doors to their students, or deliver Science City directly to them through an outreach program.

These scholarship visits are made possible thanks to a $48,000 grant from Jackson County, Missouri, to help enhance educational experiences in the community. This grant provides scholarship funding for K-12 students to visit Science City or experience our Science City On the Road Shows. Road Shows are community outreach programs facilitated by Science City Educators at the school site and are appropriate for assemby sized groups of 50-150 people.

The scholarship visits are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are available to students in predominately under-served public, private, charter or parochial schools, or school sanctioned programs, in Jackson County, Missouri. A portion of the scholarship funds will be available at-large to other Jackson County schools.

Teachers are encouraged to apply for the Jackson County Scholarships as soon as possible and are limited to one Science City scholarship visit or one Science City On the Road scholarship program per classroom during the current school year.
